English Language Assistant in Marrakesh Morocco

Spend between one to three months in the Red City, Marrakesh. This volunteer program offers an excellent opportunity to get to know an intriguing culture as well as help others improve their quality of life by learning English.
Being an English language Assistant allows you to experience Moroccan lifestyle and improve your linguistic skills at a low cost. You will live with a host family which provides your own room and all meals. During your time there you will teach Moroccan students in various schools for 15 hours per week.
This program has a focus on cultural exchange, it is designed for flexible people wishing to experience the Moroccan culture in depth. Participating implies sharing daily life with a Moroccan family, learning their language and culture and adopting it as their own for a period of time. At the same time, the participant will teach his/her own language and culture with the community.
Our families live in and around Marrakesh. This cosmopolitan city offers countless activities with plenty to see and do. From shopping in the souks to vibrant night clubs to comprehensive museums, Marrakesh has it all. There will also be opportunities to visit locations outside of the city with the host family and other participating English language assistants.

Length: From 1 to 3 months
Dates: available all year round except for August and Ramadan (the dates are different every year)
Duties: You must plan and teach English lessons which total 15 hours per week.
There will be access to language books. Lessons can be more or less formal, depending upon the needs of the students.
Housing: Homestays are 450 euros for one month which include your own room, all meals and Marrakesh airport/train station pick-up upon arrival.
Optional Arabic Study: One to One Arabic study is possible at the following rates per month:
15 hours per week for one month 650 euros
12 hours per week for one month 520 euros
8 hours per week for one month 348 euros
Prerequisites: To control the quality of English lessons taught which allows the organization to maintain teaching venues, Language Assistants must be native English speakers and must have completed The Language House TEFL Certificate Course.
We suggest that you prepare teaching tools in advance using the many web resources, as well as bringing a dictionary and a grammar book to refer to.
